SERS Cyclists to Raise Money for Cancer Care

14th April 2014
A six-strong team of employees and associates from SERS are to put their energy into raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The team will be taking part in the annual 100-mile CARTEN cycle ride from Cardiff to Tenby in May, and SERS is also one of the main shirt sponsors for the event.

The team, which includes a company director and two senior managers, are training hard for their epic run which is now in its 10th year. Team members are Mike Roberts, John Cottrell, Tony Carpenter, Rob Morris, Peter Williams and Robert Lewis, and they hope to raise around £2,000 for the charity.

The CARTEN 100 ride has progressed from just four riders in 2004 to more than 1300 expected this year. The 10-hour ride uses A roads, B roads and cycle tracks to get from the Welsh capital to the coast at Tenby.

Last year the CARTEN 100 raised £70,000 for the Noah’s Ark children’s charity, and in 2012, more than £85,000 was raised for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The CARTEN 100 2014 will be run on Saturday, May 10. Riders will wear a specially-produced cycling jersey with the SERS logo displayed prominently on the back.

Good luck to everyone in the team.
