Circa 350 Homes to Benefit from External Improvement Works

4th April 2014
SERS is carrying out a major £3.6 million contract to fit External Wall Insulation to around 350 homes on behalf of Slough Borough Council.

SERS teams are installing external solid wall insulation to properties in various areas of Slough. Work is well underway on the project which is due for completion in the Autumn and will help residents cut down their fuel bills by hundreds of pounds a year.

The work has been designed and is being project managed by specialist housing consultancy Michael Dyson Associates Ltd of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

SERS director Geoff Thomas said the work, as well as saving money on fuel bills, would dramatically improve the external appearance of the properties, with a pebble-dash finish and brick detailing around the windows, thus having a positive impact upon the community as a whole. Complete community regeneration is often seen with an improved sense of community spirit.

The large-scale programme of work is being carried out under the Energy Company Obligation programme, which is aimed at improving home energy use, reducing fuel bills and tackling fuel poverty.
The improvement works will help make the homes easier and cheaper to heat, help homes stay warm for longer, and generally improve the living conditions for the residents concerned. The residents will certainly notice the difference.
