Metal Frame Construction
It looks simple, fast and easy to install. In principal it can be, and the
benefits of faster construction times, reduced weight loadings and
the potential of highly thermally efficient and acoustically sound walls,
makes this method of construction a much sought after solution for
new buildings.
Like any solution however, getting it right first time, in budget and
built within programme, is the challenge for any developer and
main contractor.
SERS has considerable experience of this type of construction.
What SERS also has however, which is some what different from
many other companies, is a desire for our clients to get it right from
initial tender, to the completion of the frame. |
|
Have you considered:
Movement of metal frame and structure.
Interfaces with other elements such as
block work, rain screen cladding, windows.
Acoustic performance of wall.
Flanking transmission of interfaces.
Accommodation of movement by insulated
render or cladding.
Overall thermal performance.
Loadings on frame including wind loadings.
Expansion of metal studs.
Fire breaks. |
 |
 |
These are just a selection of the type of issues SERS deal
with on a day to day basis, and when you understand these issues
and have resolved previous queries, you have a much greater
understanding of the problems to avoid.
Like any developing market however, experience is sometimes very
difficult to extract on a tender document.
This method of construction can take literally months off the
construction process, but only if you know what you are doing.
At SERS we pride ourselves in always endeavouring to give best
advice, as early as possible to avoid as little cost as possible later on. |
